WHAT WE'RE DOING HOW WE GOT HERE: Maria Parker is world record-holding endurance cyclist. She is attempting one of the most grueling races in the world to raise money to cure brain cancer. Why? Her sister, Jenny Mulligan, was diagnosed with a very serious and terminal brain cancer in October. Maria says, "I've seen how Susan G. Komen and Team in Training have changed the odds for those with Breast Cancer and Leukemia/Lymphoma. HIV was transformed from a diagnosis of certain death to a chronic disease allowing for a full life. I'd like to see the same thing occur for Brain Cancer. As it stands, nearly all of people diagnosed with primary brain cancer die within a year or 18 months." Read more about Jenny and Maria's story here. |
